Size & Location
Located in a rural setting on the high desert plateau between the cities of Bend and Sisters, the environment that Bridges Academy maintains is free from distractions, yet close to mountains, lakes and national forests that make up the beautiful Central Oregon landscape. Our campus setting provides students the opportunity to participate in a variety of outdoor and experiential learning activities. Bridges Academy has a maximum capacity of only 30 students, allowing us to maintain a small, intimate environment, conducive to working with each of our students and their families on an individual basis.
Accreditation/Licensure
Bridges Academy is licensed as a residential boarding school by the Oregon State Department of Health and Human Services. Bridges Academy is an accredited member of the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools and is recognized and licensed by the Oregon State Department of Education as a private school. Bridges Academy has been approved to accept international students through the SEVIS system. We are also a full member of the National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs.
Academics
Bridges Academy provides a year-round, college-preparatory academic curriculum that covers grades 9 through 12 and exceeds state of Oregon Department of Education high school graduation requirements. We utilize a variety of learning mediums that are custom-tailored to each student's individual needs, ensuring the greatest degree of success. With a student to teacher ratio of just five to one, classes are small, providing each student with individualized, one-on-one support. In addition to promoting credit recovery and transferable credits, students may also earn an accredited Oregon high school diploma and begin preparing for college. Students also have the option of earning an honors diploma.
Faculty & Staff
The faculty and staff at Bridges Academy consists of credentialed, secondary-level teachers, experienced and degreed mentors, wilderness instructors, Master's-level therapists, a school nurse, licensed consulting drug and alcohol counselors and Licensed Clinical Social Workers. Our experienced staff receives ongoing training in both prevention and intervention strategies.
Our Students
The typical Bridges Academy student is a bright, sensitive adolescent boy between the ages 14-17, with a history of emotional, behavioral and/or academic problems that include the following: low self-esteem, defiance, under achievement, anger issues, drug/alcohol use and family problems. Diagnostic categories include: Depression, ADD, ADHD, Oppositional Defiance, Anxiety, Borderline Personality and Bi-Polar disorders among others.
Tuition and Fees
Tuition for Bridges Academy is $4,995 per month, based on a 14-month program, which includes the associated costs of providing continuous care, counseling and instructional services. Educational loans are available to help families manage costs. There is also a $2,000 orientation fee due upon enrollment.
